Vioxx Stroke

Halfway through a three-year study on Vioxx called APPROVe (Adenomatous Polyp Prevention On Vioxx), Merck & Co., Inc. has removed the drug from the market due to a potential link between the use of Vioxx and increased risks of cardiovascular events such as heart attacks or strokes. This study increases the importance that Vioxx takers quickly understand the symptoms of a stroke so that the early stages do not go unnoticed.

What is a stroke?

A stroke is a cerebrovascular life-threatening event where the brain does not receive enough oxygen. This occurs because of an interruption to the brain's blood supply, which could be due to a blood clot or a blood vessel rupture in or around the brain. The symptoms of a stroke are fairly recognizable and can include any of the following: sudden weakness or numbness, difficulty understanding others speaking, disorientation, loss of coordination, vision problems, dizziness and trouble walking. Even if you are not a Vioxx user, but particularly if you are and you've experienced any symptoms of stroke or other unusual symptoms, see a doctor right away.

If you regularly take the prescribed dosage of Vioxx and your doctor has determined that you are suffering from symptoms of a stroke, Vioxx has been mentioned as a potential cause in more than one study. Get treatment right away for your symptoms! Afterwards, consult with one of the highly-qualified, experienced Vioxx lawyers from the panels on the left and right sides of this page.
